World’s first Android phone to feature 2GB of RAM, the LG Optimus LTE II has just gone live in South Korea. The smartphone is now available for purchase through all three main carriers.

Although the handset has been made available only in South Korea, LG confirmed the Optimus LTE II will be launched worldwide, but more details on that will be unveiled in the following weeks.

With 2GB of RAM, LG Optimus LTE II offers an optimal multitasking at running large applications. In addition, the smartphone boasts an incredible 4.7-inch True HD IPS capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (1280 x 720 pixels) resolution and is capable of emitting 550 nits.

The device is powered by a dual core Qualcomm MSM8960 Snapdragon processor clocked at 1.5 GHz, which is complemented by an Adreno 225 graphics processing unit and 2GB of RAM.

Furthermore, the Optimus LTE II embeds 16GB of internal memory, which can be expanded up to 32GB via microSD card.

Another strong point of the smartphone is the high-capacity 2,150 mAh Li-Ion battery, which is rated by the manufacturer for up to 250 hours of standby time or up to 10 hours of talk time.

LG also confirmed the Optimus LTE II runs Google’s Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system with the new Optimus UI 3.0 on top. The latter offers users a slew of convenient features such as face recognition unlocking, widget size control and easy-to-organize folder management.

It is also worth mentioning the smartphone comes with support for wireless charging, which means it can be recharged by placing it on a wireless battery charging pad.

“The Optimus LTE II is the most powerful smartphone technology currently available in Korea. With a faster LTE network, the barrier for downloading and running very large applications is no longer a significant one for many customers, which is why LG saw a need for more RAM on high-end smartphones,” said Dr. Jong-seok Park, President and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company.

Apple is the target of a class action suit involving iCloud customers moving from the old MobileMe service who are dissatisfied with some of the aspects regarding their migration to the new suite of Internet services. One major takeaway from the collective complaint is Apple’s failure to “adequately ensure that features MobileMe users were paying for would be accessible, including access to their e-mail accounts for which customers pay additional fees.” “As a result, numerous MobileMe users suffered damage from the inability to access their individual accounts,” reads the suit, filed this week in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California by plaintiff Danyelle Comer. Since the suit is labeled as “class”, multiple (unnamed) customers are likely to have joined the action as plaintiffs. Apple “misrepresented” its iCloud service as paying MobileMe customers experienced “devastating consequences,” according to a report by AppleInsider citing the documents in question.
“As a result, numerous MobileMe users suffered damage from the inability to access their individual accounts,” reads the suit, filed this week in U.S.

The suit argues that, “Unfortunately for many users it doesn’t ‘just work’ and has resulted in a series of headaches due to lack of syncing ability, lack of email functionality and other complications and losses and corruption of data.”

“In fact,” the complaint stresses, “a number of users have been forced to hire outside technical assistance at significant cost, just to migrate to the iCloud platform or get around it to obtain minimal functionality of emails and other systems.”

The suit further mentions iCloud downtime, which seldom caused the inability to access e-mail and other services, throughout the transition.

The lawyers representing plaintiff Danyelle Comer conclude, stating that “Apple’s most dedicated consumers, including those who paid for MobileMe service have continually experienced problems with iCloud migration, including lack of email for extended periods.”

According to the report quoting the documents, Apple is being accused of “one count of violation of the Magnus-Moss Warranty Act, one count of unjust enrichment, one count of breach of express warranty, one count of breach of implied warranty of merchantability, and violation of the California Consumer Legal Remedies Act.”

The company’s chief financial officer, Peter Oppenheimer, has issued a brochure to Apple’s neighbors in Cupertino, California, dishing out some facts about the new spaceship-shaped campus, and how its existence will affect the area. The documents, obtained by 9to5mac, state that Campus 2 won’t replace the 1 Infinite Loop campus, where the top executives are likely to remain. “Instead, it will just provide ‘research facility’ office space for an additional 13,000 employees, more than 3,000 more than 1 Infinite Loop. There is 300,000 feet of expansion space for future growth.” Another key takeaway, “Campus 2 will attain LEED certification and will have no manufacturing or heavy industrial activity onsite. Apple has and will continue to take additional steps to reduce auto use by employees.
“In the commercials, all of these tasks are done with ease with the assistance of the iPhone 4S’s Siri feature, a represented functionality contrary to the actual operating results and performance of Siri.”

Apple took its time to digest these claims and has now come up with an answer: too bad!

Well, they didn’t exactly phrase it that way, but surely that’s what they meant when Apple’s lawyers said, “[The plaintiffs] offer only general descriptions of Apple’s advertisements, incomplete summaries of Apple’s website materials, and vague descriptions of their alleged—and highly individualized—disappointment with Siri.”

“Tellingly, although Plaintiffs claim they became dissatisfied with Siri’s performance “soon after” purchasing their iPhones, they made no attempt to avail themselves of Apple’s 30-day return policy or one-year warranty—which remains in effect,” the statement continued.

Apple’s legal also stressed that, instead of taking their disappointing hardware back to their local Apple store, “they seek to take an alleged personal grievance about the purported performance of a popular product and turn it into a nationwide class action under California’s consumer protection statutes.”

“The Complaint does not come close to meeting the heavy burden necessary to sustain such claims.”

Although LG announced the upcoming availability of the Optimus LTE2 two weeks ago, the handset vendor failed to unveil the smartphone’s full specs sheet. The world’s first smartphone top comes with 2GB of RAM inside, Optimus LTE2 is expected to arrive in South Korea sometime this week. Today, the company issued another press release, which offers more details on the smartphone’s specs, but the device is dubbed “LG Optimus LTE II.” Anyway, official word is that the Optimus LTE II boasts a hyper-vibrant 4.7-inch True HD-IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports 720 x 1280 pixels resolution and 16 million colors. Moreover, it appears that for whatever reasons the smartphone is 10g heavier than the device announced two weeks ago. It is also worth mentioning that the Optimus LTE II will be shipped with the new Optimus 3.0 UI, which has just been detailed. LG has also confirmed the smartphone will be powered by a Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S4 processor clocked at 1.5 GHz, complemented by an Adreno 225 graphics processing unit and 2GB of RAM.
Today, the company issued another press release, which offers more details on the smartphone’s specs, but the device is dubbed “LG Optimus LTE II.”

No word on the storage amount, but it will come with microSD card slot for memory expansion up to 32GB. There’s also an impressive 8-megapixel rear camera with autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording.

In addition, the phone’s 2,150 mAh Li-Ion battery has been rated by LG for up to 255 hours of standby time or up to 10 hours of talk time. Obviously, continuous usage time will be much lower.

Obviously, the smartphone’s main selling points will be LTE support and Google’s latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system.

For the time being, LG confirmed the Optimus LTE II would be launched in South Korea through five carriers. We’re not sure whether this handset will be available outside the country as well.
